Evaluation of nitrogen metabolites as indices of nitrogen utilization in sheep given frozen and dry mature herbages.

چکیده
I . Twenty herbages at different stages of maturity containing from 0.77 to 5.23 g nitrogen/ 100 g organic matter were harvested, and green herbages were rapidly frozen and stored at 1.5’. Each herbage was offered at levels approximating to ad lib. to a group of three sheep, individually penned. Intake, digestion and retention of N were studied during a 10 d collection period after a 9 d preliminary period. 2. General regressions relating apparently digested N (NA, g/d), urinary N excretion (UN, g/d) and retention of N (NR,g/d) to N intake (NI,g/d) were established: NA=

Comparison of the in situ degradation parameters of fresh and frozen-thawed 15N-labelled alfalfa and ryegrass
Degradation of dry matter (DM) and nitrogen (N) in fresh or frozen-thawed alfalfa and ryegrass was studied by using in situ technique. The forages were labeled with 15N during growth in a glasshouse, harvested at similar growth phase, and fresh (F) or frozen-thawed (FT) samples were incubated in the rumen of 3 sheep. There was no difference (P>0.05) between forage type (S) for the immediately s...

The objective of this study was to compare the effects of soybean (SB) meal (SBM) with increased rumen undegradable protein as roasted SB (RSB), extruded SB (ESB) or their equal blend (RSB + ESB) on production performance, nutrient digestibility, N-utilization efficiency, and blood metabolites in mid-lactation dairy cows. Eight lactating Holstein cows (BW = 534 ± 52 and DIM = 104 ± 5; mean ± SD...
متن کاملThe urinary aromatic acids excreted by sheep given S24 perennial ryegrass cut at six stages of maturity.
I. S 24 perennial ryegrass was harvested at six stages of its growth from young leafy herbage to mature grass in which the seed had shed. 2. Two sheep were offered Ikg/d of each cut and two other sheep were offered 750 g/d of each cut of grass. 3. The contents of some possible precursors of the urinary aromatic acids excreted by sheep, namely, shikimic acid, quinic acid, chlorogenic acid, total...

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of tannic acid (TA) and pistachio by-product tannin extract (PBE) on N utilization and efficiency of microbial nitrogen synthesis (EMNS) in Saanen dairy goats. The experimental design was a change over design with three treatments and three periods using six mid lactation multiparous dairy goats. Tannic acid solution and PBE were added to fresh ...
متن کاملHypoinsulinemia induction and its effects on leptin secretion, blood and urine metabolites, feeding pattern and internal organs indices in sheep
Introduction: Insulin role and importance are different from that of monogastric. In this study, permanent hypoinsulinemia with various severities was induced using doses 0, 25, 50 and 75 mg/kg BW of streptozotocin (STZ) in sheep. Materials and methods: Twenty male lambs were divided into four treatment groups and maintained individually. Treatments were single, intravenous injection of doses ...
